Walking, cycling & rights of way
If you walk to and from school then School Crossing Patrols (SCPs) provide a vital service at sites across Fife by helping pedestrians on their journey and keeping them safe.
Cycling is also a healthy and enjoyable way to travel and brings big benefits to the environment, for example by reducing the number of cars on the roads and improving the air quality. Fife has one of the best cycle networks for a council area of this size with 300 miles (500 km) of cycle paths. These include paths for leisure and commuting, which run through forests, towns, disused railway tracks, and quiet country lanes.
Fife Council has been working with the Kingdom of Fife Tourist Board and Visit Scotland to encourage more local people and tourists to use the network of cycle paths for leisure, and other activities such as going to work and shopping.
