Recycling & Waste

How we manage waste in Fife

We manage your waste by providing you with

New Improved Kerbside Service
Several areas of Fife are now on a four bin system allowing them to recycle food waste and cans and plastics at the kerbside. This service will be provided to most Fife Households on a phased approach.

Glenrothes and the surrounding area will be the next area to move onto this service and you can find out more information by visiting the four bin system pages.

How are we doing?
In 2009 Fife recycled 45% of its waste.  This ensures that Fife is still one of the best for recycling in Scotland.

What else can I do?
Recycling is just one way that you can help the environment and reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill. You can also help send less waste to landfill by reducing and reusing.

Reducing, reusing and recycling your waste is a good thing to do because it:

  • Saves the Earth's natural resources
  • Saves energy and reduces the risk of climate change
  • Reduces the need for landfill

Waste Aware Fife

At Fife Council, we're working as part of the national campaign Waste Aware Scotland.
We're using the name Waste Aware Fife and working towards the same goals as every council in Scotland to reduce, reuse and recycle as much waste as we can
