Benefits when hospitalised
If you or your partner go into hospital or a care home you need to write to us with the details as your Housing Benefit may be affected. We need to know:
- The date you went into hospital
- How long you expect your stay to be
- If you intend to return home after your stay in hospital
- Whether you are letting your home to anyone else during your absence.
If you work then your wages may change. If so please tell us and send in your wage slips.
If you receive Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance, this will be withdrawn after 4 weeks. This will affect your Housing Benefit calculation.
If you have a continuous stay in hospital which lasts more than 52 weeks your Housing Benefit may end.
You may also qualify for a discount on your Council Tax if a member of your houshold is currently in hospital.
