More Affordable Homes for Fife

Fife Council and the Fife Housing Association Alliance have been continuing to deliver new affordable homes even in these difficult financial times. The council’s new build programme has been highly successful with progress including:

  • £15.4 million of council funding committed to build 189 new homes for rent with a further total of £31million for new projects;
  • Over £5 million of Scottish Government funding committed for Council new build projects.

'Key to delivering future phases of the programme will be the availability of land. To keep the programme moving forward, a list of council owned land and assets has been drawn up which will be considered for future new build housing. The list of potential sites is vital to keep the new build programme on track and focussed on delivering as many new homes for Fifers as possible. Planning ahead in this way will also mean the council is ready to make further applications for Scottish Government funding, when opportunities become available. '

During the year the Alliance:

  • Received funding approvals for a further 170 unit starts, which will be completed in 2012/13.

The funding programme from the Scottish Government, for new site starts, over the next 3 years, has been reduced.
