Purpose of consultation
Fife Council first published Supplementary Planning Guidance on Wind Energy in 2008, and since then has constantly tried to improve the guidance, making it as clear and useful as possible.
Fife aims to become Scotland’s Leading Green Council and supports the development of renewable technologies, so long as they are in the right locations.
As Wind Energy becomes increasingly important in the delivery of sustainable energy generation it is essential that we have appropriate guidance to allow us to actively guide and support wind turbine proposals in Fife to the right locations.
Our latest update of Wind Energy Supplementary Planning Guidance was published in November 2010. This draft introduces a number of changes which seeks to provide further guidance on wind energy. We have tried to make the latest version easy to read and understand. New information has been included in the document including single turbine proposals, offshore developments, feed-in tariffs, community and economic wind turbine developments, cumulative impact and proximity of turbines to transport infrastructure.
Your comments and feedback about this draft of the guidance will help shape the final content of Fife’s Wind Energy Guidance and allow us to continually improve the document in the future.
