Purpose of consultation

This consultation requests your feedback about Fife Council's proposals for a planned business Low Carbon park in the Muiredge area.

The proposed business park will provide a 15 hectares development site with new access roads and utilities and will supplement the existing employment land suitable for local companies wishing to develop new premises. The project is led by Fife Council and supported by Scottish Enterprise. The Business Park proposal aims to provide opportunities for development associated with the renewable energy sector creating new jobs in the local area.

This new development is also part of a wider programme of investment around the Energy Park Fif. It will build on the success of Energy Park Fife project and the significant investment that has already been made and will give manufacturers and supply chain operators the opportunity to co-locate to an environment dedicated to companies working within the renewable energy sector.

The aim of the project is to create a framework that will aid the delivery of a new community in Levenmouth that has a high quality built environment with appropriate facilities and services. It is about creating new private and affordable homes and jobs in a place that people will choose to live and work in, boosting the local economy and reversing the area’s population decline.

Following this public consultation a planning application will be submitted by Fife Council in September 2012 and it is expected that site servicing works will begin in 2013/14.

The proposal is being developed in accordance with the Levenmouth Strategic Land Allocation and the adopted Mid Fife Local Plan. The Energy Park Fife has been identified as one of 12 sites across Scotland within National Renewables Infrastructure Plan.
